All Sets, No Regrets
The Prattville High School volleyball teams had a successful weekend, highlighted by the junior varsity squad winning the Chilton County tournament with a record of 4-1. The Lady Lions secured the championship by defeating Maplesville in the final match, showcasing their skills throughout the tournament. Four players were recognized for their outstanding performances and named to the All-Tournament Team: Riley Green, EmmaLynn McManus, Vera Grace Gallant, and EllaKate Thompson.
Meanwhile, the varsity team finished third in the Enterprise Invitational Tournament. They excelled in pool play, achieving victories against strong opponents, including Saint James (2-1), Oak Mountain (2-0), and Holmes County (2-0). The Lady Lions displayed a strong offensive and defensive performance during these matches. However, their run came to an end in the semifinals, where they lost to Leon High School where they went 0-2. Despite the semifinal setback, the Lions demonstrated resilience and skill throughout the tournament.
Coach Adams praised her girls’ efforts: “The tournament provided us with a lot of great competition this weekend. I was proud of how our girls executed our serving strategies and remained aggressive behind the service line. We were challenged in several areas, which gave us an opportunity to identify where we need to improve. We’ll use what we learned this weekend as we prepare to begin area play.”
The Lady Lions are back in action tonight in the PHS gym where they take on Jemison. JV play at 4:30 pm, Varsity play at 5:30 pm.
