FALL SPORTS UPDATE: Prattville High School Off to a Strong Start
Prattville High School's fall sports programs are experiencing one of their best starts in recent memory, with notable performances across volleyball, football, flag football, cross country, cheer, and swim and dive.

Prattville High School is off to an impressive start in the 2026–2027 school year, with each of its fall sports programs achieving remarkable success. The collective performance of the teams marks one of the strongest beginnings in recent history.
The Prattville Lady Lions volleyball team has set the tone early in the season, currently boasting a record of 23–3. This achievement surpasses their total number of wins from the entire 2025 season, and they have accomplished this feat before even entering area play. Recently, the Lady Lions secured a significant victory over the No. 5-ranked team in the state, further establishing their presence as a formidable contender.
Head Coach Tynesha Adams commented on the team's performance, stating, "We’ve had a great start to the season. I’m proud of how our girls have competed and continued to grow each week. We’ve been aggressive from the service line, played through some tough competition, and learned a lot about ourselves along the way. We still have plenty of room to improve, but I like where we are as we head into area play."
The Prattville Lions varsity football team is also enjoying a strong start, entering a critical area matchup against Hewitt-Trussville High School with a perfect 4–0 record. The team is currently ranked No. 3 in the state, marking the highest ranking for Prattville in nearly a decade. This ranking follows a dramatic victory over Hoover, where the Lions clinched the win in the final minute of the game.
Head Coach Bobby Carr expressed his thoughts on the upcoming challenge, saying, "We've got a big game coming up Friday Night against Hewitt. They do an incredible job, and it will be a tough task for our team. We're excited about where we're at, and looking forward to continuing on with the year."
In flag football, the Lady Lions are making their mark as well, currently ranked No. 4 in Class 6A according to MaxPreps, with a record of 6–3. The team is preparing to compete in the Dothan Tournament this weekend, which presents a significant opportunity for exposure to college coaches and NFL representatives.
Head Coach Mike Battle remarked, "It’s awesome to be ranked No. 4 by MaxPreps. The girls have worked really hard to get to this point, and they continue to put in the work every day. We’re proud of their effort and excited to see what they can accomplish this weekend. This upcoming tournament is big for our program."
The Prattville Cross Country team has also had a strong start, highlighted by record-setting performances from Kayden Thomas, who has already broken school records this season, contributing to the team's overall momentum.
Cheer is also gearing up for competition as the team is set to compete in the AHSAA Central South Regional on September 28 at 17 Springs in Millbrook. Coach Hughes noted, "We are working hard to become more consistent and hit our skills with confidence. This is the first year Prattville High School will be back competing in the coed division, and we are excited to showcase our coed skills alongside our all-girl stunts."
The Swim and Dive season is also underway, with Head Coach Ashley Watson expressing optimism about the team's performance. "Prattville Swim is off to a fantastic start! After medaling and achieving new personal bests in Opelika, including Tally Perdue dropping 9 seconds in her freestyle, we’re excited to keep the momentum going at the BTW Opener on September 22. Go Lions!"
As the fall season progresses, Prattville High School's student-athletes and coaches continue to represent their school at an outstanding level. With much of the season still ahead, there is plenty more to look forward to. One Town. One Team. Go Lions!
